ENGINEERING DRAFTER

JOB PURPOSE:

The Drafter is responsible for preparing, updating, and maintaining engineering drawings and technical documentation for petrochemical facilities, including process units, pipelines, equipment, and supporting infrastructure. The role supports engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and project teams by ensuring all drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements.

KEY RESPOSIBILITIES:

Engineering Drawing Preparation

  • Develop and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, SmartPlant, AVEVA, or equivalent drafting software. Prepare and update:
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
  • Isometric Drawings
  • Plot Plans
  • Equipment Layout Drawings
  • Civil and Structural Drawings
  • Electrical and Instrumentation Drawings
  • Ensure all drawings are produced accurately and in accordance with engineering specifications.

 

Document Control and Drawing Management

  • Maintain drawing registers and document databases.
  • Control drawing revisions and ensure proper version management.
  • Update as-built drawings following plant modifications, maintenance activities, and project execution.
  • Coordinate with document controllers to ensure proper distribution and archiving of engineering documents.

 

Technical Support

  • Work closely with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation Engineers to develop design drawings.
  • Incorporate engineering comments and design changes into drawings.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) processes by updating affected drawings and technical documents.
  • Provide drafting support for design reviews and HAZOP studies as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma mandatory; Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of drafting experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, refinery, chemical, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience working in brownfield and greenfield projects is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE of:

  • Piping systems Process equipment Industrial layouts
  • Engineering symbols and standards
  • Familiarity with ACAD, SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant 3D, AVEVA E3D, PDMS, or MicroStation is an advantage. Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, datasheets, and technical documents.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
